Ajit Samudra is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in IL with over 20 years of experience helping children, teens, young adults, individuals, couples, and families. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Case Western Reserve University and completed his Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Indiana State University. Ajit also completed postgraduate studies at The Family Institute at Northwestern University.

Ajit is passionate about exploring clients’ life stories, their values, and the meanings they attribute to their experiences. He strives to help clients understand themselves, develop self-compassion, and understand and cope with their Inner Critics. He hopes to help clients change negative self-stories into stories of hope and resilience. 

Ajit has extensive experience working with children, youth, and families in community mental health and school settings. He has helped clients with a broad range of presenting problems, including school problems, ADHD, emotion regulation, anxiety, depression, stress, anger management, adjustment to stressful life transitions, and self-esteem. He also has experience working with issues around setting boundaries and repairing damaged relationships between parents and their children (youth and adults). In his work with couples, he uses a Gottman and EFT-informed approach. 

Ajit is a strong believer in collaborating with clients and families, using systemic, Narrative, Existential, and multicultural lenses. He enjoys working with clients from a variety of cultural backgrounds and holds humility and respect for client differences. He has a particular interest in working with South Asian clients on issues of acculturation and other family/cultural issues.
