Marquita Peoples Gadson earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, graduating magna cum laude from Walden University, and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University, specializing in Trauma-Informed Systemic Therapy.
Marquita is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families heal from the effects of trauma through compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive care. Her therapeutic interests include Bowen Family Systems Theory, Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method, and other systemic approaches that recognize the influence of relationships, family patterns, culture, and lived experiences on emotional well-being. She believes meaningful healing occurs within the context of internal and external relationships and strives to create safe, supportive environments where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.
Her clinical interests include relational trauma, attachment, family-of-origin dynamics, couple relationships, intergenerational trauma and the lasting effects of historical and racial trauma. Inspired by the work of Joy DeGruy, Marquita is committed to understanding how historical trauma can continue to influence individuals, families, and communities intergenerationally. She is passionate about helping clients rediscover their strengths, foster healthier relationships, and move toward lasting healing and resilience.
As a South Side Chicago native, Marquita is deeply committed to serving diverse communities and recognizes the importance of honoring each client’s unique cultural background, lived experiences, and personal story. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate life’s challenges and believes that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change. Marquita is honored to complete her clinical training at the Center of Relational Empowerment (CORE) and looks forward to partnering with individuals, couples, and families as they work toward emotional wellness, stronger relationships, and healthier futures.
Marquita believes that healing begins when people feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. She is committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients can safely explore their experiences, strengthen their relationships, and move toward hope, resilience, and lasting change.
“Healing relationships begins with understanding the stories that shaped them.”
